ViRe-team at #ica21

New experiences with large-scale online conferencing for the ViRe-team: The annual conference of the International Communication Association (ICA), has been again convened as an entirely “virtual” conference. This year’s conference topic was “Engaging the essential work of care: Communication, connectedness, and social justice”.

From 27-31 May 2021, the team had the chance to discuss the paper “Baked bunnies, home-made banana bread and video call-gardening. Transformation and stability of visual communication practices in close social relationships in times of COVID-19”. Also on behalf of her co-authors Katharina Lobinger and Federico Lucchesi, Seraina Tarnutzer presented the empirical insights the team has gathered during the first wave of the pandemic beginning of 2020.

Associate project member Rebecca Venema co-organized the online ICA pre-conference “Visions of change: Communication for social & environmental justice”[VR1] , which was held on 27 May 2021 with more than 80 participants from around the globe.
